Grand Opening in Columbia
Nighttime Pediatrics and adult care too! ® hosted the grand opening celebration of its newest Nighttime Care Center® at 6334 Cedar Lane in Columbia, Maryland, on Friday, November 3, 2006. The new Care Center in Columbia represents Nighttime Pediatrics’ fifth location and the first Nighttime Care Center in Howard County.
The idea behind opening a Care Center in Columbia stems from the rising health care costs and an increasing demand for an after-hours alternative to the emergency room. A trusted name in after-hours medical care for over 15 years, Nighttime Pediatrics provides medical care to children and adults for non-emergent illness and trauma (sutures, fractures, burns, etc.) on evenings and weekends – 365 days a year. Nighttime’s services complement the primary physician and hospital emergency room, filling a gap when physician offices are closed and filtering non-emergency illness out of the emergency room.
Celebrating the grand opening of the Care Center with Nighttime Pediatrics® were invited dignitaries including Maryland Delegates Shane E. Pendergrass and Frank S. Turner, Maryland Secretary of Disabilities Kristen Cox, and Guy Guzzone, Howard County’s Zoning Board Chairman and Council Chairman. Also on hand were Ken Ulman, a member of the Howard County Council representing the Fourth District and Mr. Victor A. Broccolino, President and Chief Executive Officer of Howard County General Hospital. Nighttime’s partner for the Columbia Care Center, located on the campus of Lorien Nursing Home, is the Mangione Family. Nicholas and Mary Mangione attended the opening with their children, Nicholas, Sam, John and Rose, and their nephew Louis Grimmel.
Dr. Robert G. Graw, Jr., Medical Director, Nighttime Pediatrics explained “The grand opening of the Care Center in Columbia is an exciting time for Nighttime Pediatrics as we expand our valuable services to children and adults in Howard County.”
In 1989, Nighttime opened its first Care Center in Annapolis, Maryland to provide medical care to infants and children and added adult care in 1998 when the need became clear. With Care Centers in Annapolis, Waugh Chapel, Pasadena, Rockville and now Columbia, Nighttime aims to deliver the Right Care at the Right Time® by providing high quality medical care with exceptional customer service and convenience that compliments today’s busy lifestyles. Future Nighttime Care Centers are planned for Montgomery County, Maryland and Virginia.
